Water, for life Life in Water

Drinking waters - What
is in yours?
Now there is a tricky topic.  With the Flint, Michigan crisis with their water I am having my lead levels checked because I had gone to school there since 2011.  During 2012 to 2014 I had been drinking much of my water from their tap because I could always get refills with ice for free.  At the most I would spend would be 25 cents for a recycled cup and straw.  It just makes a girl worry about what the heck is going on.  What is the water and why are there so many different kinds?  As always, I am not a doctor so please if you have concerns about what you are drinking please check with your doctor to get the best evidence based medicine information on the subject.

City tap water from most municipalities has fluoride in it but in some states like New Jersey does not.  Always remember to have some fluoride in your diet to help with the little ones teeth.

Distilled water is a form of water that is purified.  The process for purification is very intense and it takes out everything good and bad out of the water.  This is usually not used for drinking but it is good for things like your iron so there is no build up inside it.
.

Purified water is one that can go through one of several ways to get contaminates out of it.  The use of distillation, deionization, reverse osmosis, and carbon filtration are used to pull everything out of the water.  The bad news here is that is also takes out the beneficial minerals water has to offer too.  Many of your soda distributors make this type of water since they use this in many of their drinks.

Spring water is water that still has the natural minerals in it.  I have   This is from an underground source that may or may not have been treated or purified in any way.  We all have the picture of spring water coming from the snow-capped mountains.  The pictures that are on some of the bottle like that are very deceiving.  There have been some spring waters found to have coliform, arsenic and phthalates contaminates in them.

I have trouble drinking this water because I am so used to purified water.

If you are concerned about your water, please check with the EPA about the quality of water in your area.  If you do not live in Flint you may not know what is really going on.

So on that note, I went looking for some refreshing drinks to pull some of the crap out of my body.  Enjoy the following refreshing ideas.
The use of fresh fruit such as lemon, lime and grapefruits are used because they are refreshing, with Vitamin C, natural energizer, helps with digestions, and helps kick start your metabolism.

Cucumber promotes a physiological purification of the body; mint helps to soothe the lungs and belly.

In one of the recipes it uses ginger root helps with nausea, has gingerol with is a natural pain reliever.  I could go on about how wonderful ginger is but that is for another day.

It says that you should start seeing results in two weeks so I will give you an update on my progress.  I started using this drink yesterday and boy is it refreshing and yummy from the regular old plain water I have been drinking.
